The school ski trip is one of the trips students and teachers alike look forward to the most. Europe, the US and Canada are home to some wonderful resorts, all great places to take students on a school ski trip, but if it something a bit different you are looking for, then why not consider Montgenevre, one of France’s finest?
What is on Offer for the School Ski Trip in Montgenevre?
Montgenevre is a little town located on the pass between Italy and France and is close to the lively town of Briancon. It is one of the first established ski resorts in France and retains much of its delightful charm.
Considering the fact that Montgenevre is a developing ski resort with an increasingly modern infrastructure it has managed to remain very authentic, giving visitors the real feeling that they are staying in a typical French mountain town. Traditions are still very cherished in the community of the town and this is what sets Montgenevre apart from many other fast developing ski resorts. With a pedestrianised centre, it is a very pleasant town to explore and a safe place for students to wander around independently.
Hotels in Montgenevre that are specifically suited for school groups are located close to the central lift station making it a very convenient walk to the slopes in the morning. Many also have the convenience of being on the piste and therefore skiing back to your door at the end of the day is a welcome option. The ski area is diverse and there are plenty of slopes to suit all abilities. Close to resort there are several excellent nursery runs for the beginner skiers while the rest of the resort is made up of tree lined runs, long winding blues and some interesting reds. The competent skiers can test their skills on the demanding black runs or really challenge themselves on the excellent off-piste.
The Montgenevre ski pass offers a day out on The Milky Way. Get up early, make a day of it and experience a different ski area on your school ski trip. From Montgenevre you can also ski over into Italy, arriving in the resort of Claviere while taking in the Colletto Verde.
With wonderful snow conditions and plenty of sunshine throughout the season Montgenevre is proud of its skiing. The lift system is excellent and the slopes are carefully manicured every night so that during the day, every day, the quality is as it should be.
The town of Montgenevre has plenty of fun activity options for students to get involved in once they have finished on the slopes for the day. Ice-skating is always great fun and the town often hosts discos and karaoke for groups of young people. Students should be encouraged to explore the town on their own, spend some time in the local cafes and try out some of the delicious specialities the French are famous for. For a longer day out, head to Briancon where there is a state of the art indoor sports centre and a very good variety of shops.
This little town is a lovely place that has a distinct charm all of its own. Wonderfully suited to a school ski trip students will have the opportunity to develop their skiing skills while having lots of fun on a very exciting trip away from home.
